WunderLocke is based in the district of Sendling, which is divided into the areas of Untersendling, Mittersendling and Obersendling. With these areas developing and growing pretty rapidly, we wanted to explore all that Sendling has to offer and learn more about the creatives who live and work in the area.

With our soft opening of WunderLocke - our second location in Munich - well underway, we’re excited to be meeting and welcoming so many Sendling locals to WunderLocke for long stays.

Monika Morito is a talented multidisciplinary artist based in Sendling, Munich. We met Monika by chance on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her work and energy. Just over a year ago she left her full-time job to pursue her passion and talent for art. Monika will be working and living from the over the next few months basing herself at WunderLocke as she creates a live piece of abstract art at the end of April that will then be displayed in the space over the year.

As a long-time local living in the area, we asked Monika to share some of her knowledge of the local area and to talk us through a few of her favourite spots. Including restaurants, secret spots, and some unique finds:

Alte Utting.

Alte Utting is a very cool and special location, located on a boat and on a bridge! An amazing spot for sunset drinks, good people, and good vibes.

Manouche & Beirutbeirut.

These are two different Lebanese restaurants who have the same owner but different menus. Super delicious food and a very cool and chilled area to visit with friends or family.

Flaucher.

A very popular spot on the Isar river to cool off, barbecue or even relax when you want to get away from the more active and busy spots in Sendling. Make sure you take your camera to capture the incredible views and scenery.

Om Nom Nom.

A cute, vegan café which serves tasty cheese, cakes and pastries. They specialize in vegan cheese so it's a must visit spot if you’re on the hunt for interesting vegan spaces.

Sugar Mountain.

A colourful place in Obersendling known for culture, community, events and sports. It also has a skateboarding park.

Da ORA in Stemmerhof.

My favourite ice cream in Sendling (or maybe in the whole of Munich) is Da ORA! His ice cream van is located in "Stemmerhof" which is also a super cute place with a variety of restaurants, little shops and event rooms.

Bahnwaerter Thiel.

Based just outside of Sendling, but very easy to get to; Bahnwaerter Thiel is an amazing culture spot for music and events. The vibes are great and the location is super unique.
