Whitworth Locke, the new lifestyle Apart-hotel on Princess Street, Manchester, is the third addition to the Locke portfolio, following the successful launch of East London’s Leman Locke in October 2016 and Eden Locke in May 2017.
Whitworth Locke, originally a cotton mill is an example of the repurposing of a working building into a 20th century design led apart-hotel. A consistent Blush colour palette knits together 3 very different buildings and reveals textures and features of each of them to help tell the story of its history. The 3 buildings all centre around ‘The Atrium’, originally a street this is translated through its exposed flagstone and light from the roof providing an outdoors/ indoors feel.
As an industrial building it was gritty and as a contrast, design features and elements of luxe in interiors and colourways are combined to create a feel of noir Luxury.
The building demonstrates Manchester’s history whilst embracing and encouraging its dynamic and vibrant future.
A unique concept, Whitworth Locke has been curated to meet the needs of the modern traveller. Each of the 160 studios and 1 bedroom suites have been intelligently designed to champion modern travel, fusing the comforts and autonomy of residential living with the character, service and amenities of a design-led boutique hotel.
